Heartbreaking Last-Minute Collapse: Redblacks Stun Lions 34–33
The BC Lions held a firm lead for much of the game, heading into the fourth quarter with a 27–16 lead over the Ottawa REDBLACKS. Quarterback Nathan Rourke delivered a solid performance, completing 22 of 32 passes for 284 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.
But Ottawa roared back behind quarterback Dustin Crum. Crum finished the game with 301 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns. With the Lions clinging to a one-point lead, Crum orchestrated a dramatic last minute drive—highlighted by a 52-yard catch to Kalil Pimpleton—and capped it with a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Eugene Lewis with just 33 seconds remaining. Lewis Ward’s successful convert sealed a stunning 34–33 comeback.
In the aftermath, the emotional toll was apparent for the Lions. Linebacker Micah Awe admitted, “This is probably one of the most emotional losses I’ve been in,” calling the lapse “unacceptable.” Meanwhile, Crum celebrated the victory’s significance, noting it marked Ottawa’s return to the win column and bolstered their playoff hopes. The teams are set for a rematch in Vancouver next week.
