Hurlbert Hat Trick Powers Blazers to 6–0 Preseason Win Over Rockets
The Kamloops Blazers continued their preseason in style on Friday, September 5, blanking the Kelowna Rockets 6–0 at Sandman Centre. Highly touted American forward JP Hurlbert needed less than two minutes to score twice and completed his hat trick late in the second, staking Kamloops to a commanding lead. Veteran forwards Tommy Lafreniere, Jordan Keller and Nathan Behm added the other tallies to round out the offense.
Between the pipes, 18-year-old Latvian netminder Ivans Kufterins turned aside all 32 shots he faced for a shutout in his Blazers preseason debut, while Rockets goaltenders Nathan Kam and Jake Pilon split duties at the other end. The result evened Kamloops’ exhibition record and set up a rematch in Kelowna the following night.
